Naked Lunch

Book Cover Design

Naked Lunch is a visceral and shocking tale of addictions, written from the perspective of a drug addict. This book jacket design for William S. Burroughs' groundbreaking novel utilizes jarring imagery and simple typography to visualize the novel's key themes. The image of raw meat is used to allude to the effects that substances have on the mind and body. The transparencies used in the typography represent the idea of seeing something in a manner that is unfiltered, profound, and raw; in other words, its “nakedness”.

The Road

Book Cover Design

Telling the story of a father and son on a harrowing journey for survival in a post apocalyptic America, The Road is profoundly moving and at times, devastating. This reimagining of the book jacket for Cormac McCarthy’s classic novel utilizes expressive typography and a limited color palette to simultaneously abstractify and visualize the novel's subject matter. Typography is manipulated to craft a road-like structure out of the titular text, with the use of yellow to symbolize one of the novel’s key themes: hope.
